Government is all about exercising the independence and sovereignty of a defined geographical entity expressed in nation-building but primarily concerned with the wellbeing of the citizens of the geo-political entity. To meet this all-important requirement, government functionaries develop plans to see to the effective actualisation of those obligations they mandatorily owe the citizens. Indeed, this is the essence of annual budget proposals and defence by top government operators across the globe. The main concern of budgeting and governance is to see to the total wellbeing of the populace hence the appellations: welfarist State, welfarist policies, socialist State, and the like.

As usual, the new year 202 has just begun, and it is an open secret that various governments, Agencies, Institutions, Companies, etc. have no doubt started the implementation of the various budgets made in accordance with capital and sub-capital heads in recurrent and capital projects.

Incontrovertibly, so much money has been voted for the welfare of citizens, so to speak, through so-called development projects in agriculture, security, industry, housing, health, educations, infrastructures, and lots more. Yes, these annual budgets and large sums of money voted to be expended are well-intended and in the interest of all. Since this exercise is conducted year in year out, why is there so much suffering by the majority of the citizenry of these Countries or States? This gives us concern because despite the well-intended budget exercise, yearly, the suffering and poverty level of the majority is getting worse every passing year with no hope of alleviation. But why? What things are the governments and those in leadership positions not doing well?

To substantiate the divine right to governance and the exercising of authority over people and subjects, let us take a few selected scriptural guidelines thus:

Romans 13: 1-8 asserts: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained by God. Whosoever, therefore, resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the Minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the Minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s Ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law”.

In the above text, rulers of all climes – political, religious, and traditional- are made to understand that they are “Ministers of God”, implying that they are accountable to God in all their dealings in their territories and with their subjects. Also, a tip was given to them on how to succeed in their God-given duties, that is, the application of “LOVE” in all circumstances.

Proverbs 19: 17 declares that “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord, and that which he hath given will He pay him again”. Here, mankind generally is reminded of the work of mercy, that is, providing for the poor, the indigent, and the less privileged in society. This is a secret key to wealth acquisition and amassing with integrity.

And Proverbs 22: 1-2 added that “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. The rich and poor meet together: The Lord is The Maker of them all”. The point made here is that the rich and those at the corridors of power are “treasurers or storekeepers of God’ to provide for the poor man’s needs. The text also shows that the poor must always be in society, and they would look unto the rich and those in authority. Note the expression “loving favour”.

The foregone notwithstanding, knowing the prideful nature of man, God warned those in governance and positions of authority as His Ministers this way: “And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away”. (1 Cor. 7: 31). The implication is that He, God, keenly looks at the interpersonal and social relations of the rulers and the ruled.

Now, taking a critical look at the budgets of nations, International Organisations, and the like, with reference to their primary duty of taking care of the wellbeing of their citizens, especially the indigent, less privileged, and vulnerable (the aged, orphans, widows, widowers, beggars, etc.), one will no doubt, find out that in the name of the welfare of the people, large chunks of money has always been voted into different welfare subheads.

But at the implementation stage, these monies end up in the pockets of those in authority and their cronies. Since there is no deliberate subhead titled “Mercy or Humanitarian Works”, monies sent out on such demands, most times peanuts, never get into the hands of those who need the services most.

This is so because those in authority know how to recycle such monies into their pockets or their allies. Even in the exemptible so-called civilised Countries and societies dominated by the white race, on comparative analysis, one is persuaded to believe that what is voted for humanitarian services in budgets is peanuts compared to what goes into security and research purposes, especially space shuttles.

It is obvious that governments of the world, and their Institutions, care less about their primary and major concern, that is, the holistic wellbeing of the masses, especially the indigent and the like. Of a truth, this is where the leaders of the world have abused the world and are found wanting; hence they are ‘wanted persons’ to God Almighty as disobedient and wicked servants. Indeed, the sufferings, cries, agonies, lamentations, and supplications of the neglected, the less privileged, which has inundated God, is the reason they are now wanted.

No wonder the seats of worldly leaders are threatened! More so, there is virtually nothing working again in the world coupled with the peace that is eluding man in his habitat. Their carefree attitudes and failures have been responsible for revolutions, militancy, insurrections, and the like, in man’s environment!

As the All-Knowing Holy One, to save the world of this menace and hopeless state, The Messiah and Saviour of Mankind, Jesus, The Christ, more than two millennia now, proffered what we call ‘The Mercy Approach’ when He proclaimed: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14: 17).

Indeed, Our Lord and Redeemer released this secret key and panacea to successful governance and living on earth knowing that the world of man was seriously sick and dying gradually. To further help mankind and the world, Christ did not only introduce The Promise Comforter, The Holy Spirit of Truth, and The Supernatural Teacher but also handed mankind over to Him. He decreed that for the human race to come out of the precarious state, she must learn and apply all the divine and new recondite teachings of The Holy Spirit, who shall come in His name when personified.

Upon the physical arrival of The Promise Comforter on earth, Great Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, The Sole Spiritual Head of the Universe, taught mankind a simple spiritual chorus that says, “Love is the key (2x), Father Olumba says love ye one another, love is the key”. He made Love the core of His new teachings thereby, confirming Christ’s new commandment of “LOVE” in all human and social relations as outlined in John 13: 34-35. One may ask, why Love?

Because love is the core divine substance which mercy, peace, forgiveness, and other virtues anchor on, and without which, there will be chaos everywhere in human society. It is the reason Christ advised thus: “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”; meaning that if mankind, and especially rulers of all climes, leaders of thought, and the cream of society, go by His new commandment, then peace is guaranteed on earth.

As the Teacher par excellence, Holy Father Olumba Olumba Obu practiced all that He taught. One key aspect of such practical demonstrations is His deliberate budget of charity or humanitarian works. He personally has been involved in taking care of the indigent in all ramifications. Even though a specific department is in charge of such works (the Mercy Fellowship) yet, it is a daily concern and engagement of all other Fellowships in the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), including individual members. This has been the case for over a century of His physical manifestation. This is His Doctrine of ‘Leadership by Example’.

As earlier stated, Jesus, The Christ, The Saviour of Mankind, expounded the Mercy Approach as the only cure and remedy to the problems of the dying world and its structures. He made it crystal clear that only the mercy approach can ensure a peaceful living on earth hence the new commandment, “That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples if ye have love one to another”. (John 13: 34-35).

Even with the confirmation and practical demonstrations of Holy Father Olumba Olumba Obu, to whom the world was successively handed over, rulers in all climes and governments cared less and looked the other way. And what next? They opted for the out-modelled Mosaic Law of ‘An eye for an eye’ inferred by the “Might is Right” model that covertly guides their social relations.

Operating on the principle of might is right; conquest, division, subjugation, survival of the fittest, and oppressive tendencies become the order of the day. Rather than loving and empathizing with fellow men and citizens, National authorities, out of pride, are overridden by greed and the ‘I Before Others (IBO) Syndrome’ in all nations of the world.

Painfully today, the human race has horrific and sorrowful annals of slavery, imperialism, colonialism, neo-colonialism, and advancement in wickedness by taking joy in the destruction of human lives, properties, and habitat, sometimes, for no just cause. We witness degenerated morality, genocides, infanticides, brain drain, discrimination, human trafficking, and the outright confiscation of foreign lands from their indigenous owners.

Note pertinently here that this is in social relations between nations. Due to the absence of the Spirit of empathy and pity for fellow men in dealings between nations of the world and coupled with widening inequality, our lands play host to religious bigotry, drug trafficking, addiction, banditry, racialism, terrorism, hijacking, wars, and counter-wars, refugees, etc. as counter-forces to the evident imbalance in society. This has increased the crime rate Internationally, with dire consequences on humankind.

Amongst nations, the few in authority take advantage of the masses in most cases. Corruption, mediocrity, favouritism, nepotism, tribalism, cultism, and other immoral practices bedevil the nations and lands. Meritocracy, morality, values, and ethos are now history. Schools turn out graduates every day, yet there is no legitimate job to engage in for a living. These and more are responsible for inter-tribal and inter-religious wars, armed robbery, ritualism, ethnic cleansing, kidnapping, high rate of divorce, raping, prostitution, banditry, drug addiction, etc., and total anarchy in society.

There is the chronic problem of internally displaced persons and camps (IDPs) everywhere – indeed, a new heartless way of forcing poverty on people for little or no reason of theirs yet, the victims are not well catered for. Who cares? In summary, the human nuclear family has been dismembered, and restiveness is ravaging everywhere.

It is unfortunate that rather than follow the ‘Servant Leadership Lifestyle’ of The Holy Spirit Personate, Great Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, The Supernatural Teacher and Sole Spiritual Head of the Universe, and emulate Him in social relations with their citizens, governments at all strata annually vote in monies hugely for scientific and technological researches and advancement in human destruction apparatuses.

These monies go into creating and maintaining the Military Industrial Complexes (MIC) globally, rather than voting in such sums into agriculture, human development programs, and humanitarian services to give hope to the poor masses and the less fortunate. Why these huge financial wastages that could be used for agriculture and the wellbeing of the masses? This is the problem of the world; no man has true feelings (of love and pity) for the next man, and all are unconcerned about others’ wellbeing.

Meanwhile, the Holy Writ is unequivocal concerning the care of and provision for the poor in the society. In fact, this is the secret of naturally amassing wealth directly from God Almighty without strings attached. It is written in the Book of Deuteronomy chapter 15, verses 7 to 11 that, “If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in the land which The Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the Year of Release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto The Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee. Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing The Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand

wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in the land”.

We can conveniently assert here that this is a commandment from God to mankind. Charity or the works of mercy is a test to the rich and those at the corridors of power in particular, and humanity generally, hence the poor and needy shall continue to be in society. It is God’s design, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

This is why also in the Epistle of James chapter 1 verse 27 it is corroborated that, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and The Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world”. Here, we are made to understand that mercy or charity is the ‘True Religion’ and the source of God’s favour! With humanitarian work, one becomes endeared to The Father’s heart. If one may ask: how are the afflicted, the prisoners, widows, and orphans cared for by the governments, especially in their annual budgets?

Did not our Lord and Saviour, Jesus, The Christ, say in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matt. 5: 7)? That sermon was called, “The Beatitude” because it is the source of blessings for mankind! So, when the human race and the operators of national governments refuse to show concern for the wellbeing of their subjects and cannot show mercy through charity works, how then can the nations be blessed since God’s mercy is far from them?

This is the reason we have increased occurence of natural disasters and insurmountable problems in the nations’ and individuals’ lives. This is so because they are already judged and found wanting by God, Himself (read Matt. 25: 31-46 about the ‘Parable of the Sheep and Goats’, especially verses 41 to 46). Worse still, the common purse, which is the government’s treasury, is looted without compassion or consideration for the poor. The leaders have failed to use the commonwealth as stipulated in the Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2 verses 44 to 45 and chapter 4, verses 32 to 35. But, little did the leaders and allies know that public funds are God’s money; and for which they must, by all means, give account to Him for their performance while in office.

Therefore, public office holders should know that even if they manipulate and succeed in covering for their evil works while in office and wriggle out from anti-graft Agencies; how smart can they be to defy giving an account of their stewardship to God, their Sole Master? Please, rulers of the world in all climes, have a rethink for God is no respecter of persons!

Of a truth, this is not to say that nations and their authorities are not doing anything concerning the welfare of the masses; they are, but it is insufficient. As a result, besides the naturally less fortunate peoples, most people across the globe, living under the poverty line and categorised as less fortunate are artificially made so because of the highhandedness and greed of leaders.

Consequently, national and global budgets can no longer make reasonable positive impacts in the lives of the ‘Community of the Less Fortunate Ones’ in our world. Also, there is the problem of peanuts being allocated in National budgets to humanitarian or charity services as against what it should be.

In regards to charity and/or humanitarian services to the disadvantaged, Holy Father Olumba Olumba Obu’s record in the world is outstanding and unbeatable by any individual and/or group. He does His without any string(s) attached as it is natural about Him. He is ‘Mercy Personified’ by all standards. In His Everlasting Gospel titled, “Mercy, The Celestial Attribute” The Holy Father, Olumba Olumba Obu, Mercy Personified Himself said inter alia that;

“…BCS is the HOME OF MERCY… where no matter how hardened a person might have been, once he steps here, he becomes merciful, loving, patient, humble, etc.” Most unfortunately, while this Supreme Teacher continues to teach, the human race and their systems have deliberately refused to imbibe His new teachings to turn things around for the better in the world.

Finally, the challenge before the Nations of the world and their leaders is to emulate Holy Father Olumba Olumba Obu’s ‘Servant Leadership Lifestyle’, and for mankind to adopt the ‘Mercy Approach’ premised on pure love in social relations with fellow men. In addition, the rich and those at the corridors of power should provide for the needs of the masses, especially governments at all strata, to deliberately include ‘Charity or Humanitarian Services’ as mandatory subheads with huge sums of money voted for it in their annual budgets.

Proper implementation is also advocated to attract further blessings from God. Like it or not, this is a test, mandate, and commandment from God! This is why, “We are all we need, and we are better together”, and we must be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers in the world!

Thank You, Father.
