Members of the Township Bethel have lauded the Holy Father, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, for sustaining them. The group also expressed their belief in the Kingship and Supremacy of the King of kings and Lord of lords over all aspects of their lives.
Speaking recently during a visit of gratitude to the Holy Father in His Holy Vestry at the BCS World Headquarters, 34 Ambo Street, Calabar, the Bethel Administrator, Pastor Raphael George said the visit was aimed at thanking the Supreme Father for making Township Bethel a reality.
He said another factor that informed the visit was the Holy Father’s divine intervention in the restiveness that had ravaged Omoku Town and the entire Local government Area.
Speaking before the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Pastor George said prior to the Holy Fathers intervention, Omoku was a cesspit of bloodthirsty criminals, hoodlums and cultists who had taken hostage of the entire Local Government and were involved in activities such as kidnapping, stealing, and killing residents of the area. He however noted that no member of The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star fell prey to such criminal activities as a result of The Holy Father’s pronouncement.
Narrating the history of the Bethel, Pastor George said; ‘the establishment of a bethel in the locality became expedient when one late Pastor I.C Woko, an indigene, organised a house blessing at his father’s house which attracted members from neighboring Obrikom. After their departure, a few members started Divine Service, and other activities. But Following evil speculations and calumny against the BCS in the area in addition to threats and disturbances, however, they were moved back to Obrikom. In 1984, one sister Janet opened a healing home in Omoku and brethren came back to join her in the face of many challenges, leading to the acquisition of the Bethel property today’.
On Bethel activities, George explained that the Bethel is blessed with many members out of which 193 are registered. He said the bethel boasts of many Fellowships which enjoy considerable turn out during their regular activities.
Speaking further, Pastor George said the bethel administration, in support of members, is recording giant strides on evangelism with 23 baptisms in recent times. He also noted that welfare programmes in form of visitations, prayers and provision of relief materials to members are also being employed in the overall development of the bethel.
On their relationship with the posted priest, he reported that the bethel members are enjoying a cordial relationship with CPS Hyginus Okah, and that prompt payment of his stipends has brought about various developments and projects carried out by the current administration. The projects, he said includes; the renovation of the kitchen with provision of an industrial gas cooker and the tiling of the bethel floor.
Pastor George, while noting that the visit was first in the bethel’s history, thanked the Holy Father for the promotion of some members into different pews in the fold. Highlighting their challenges however, He explained that Ndoni Local Government Area is one of the oil-rich places in Rivers State and plays host to some Multinational Oil Companies but that many of the indigenes are still unemployed. He expressed hope that the visit will bring about a turnaround in their social and financial state.
The Holy Father in his response, proclaimed immeasurable blessings upon them. He added that their faith and belief in Him has earned them His favour and those who hitherto mocked them would now look up to them for succor. He however, admonished them to continue to work in harmony and without bias bearing in mind that their service is to God who rewards accordingly.
Thank you Father.
